A Journey into Farming with Kinze: Robert Dohál’s Story

In the heart of Krakovany, near Piešťany, Robert Dohál spearheads an agricultural cooperative, cultivating 640 hectares of arable soil. His journey into sustainable farming began in 2011 when he assumed leadership, bringing about a transformation that embraced no-till and regenerative practices.

The cooperative’s shift to no-till farming started in 2010, evolving into a meticulous process that involved leaving wheat stubble untouched and sowing maize in spring. The commitment to sustainable agriculture prompted the acquisition of an eight-row Kinze 3500 planter in 2013, marking a significant stride towards zero tillage.

Robert’s innovative approach extended to crop rotation, introducing cover crops after durum wheat cultivation in 2014. The Kinze planter, a pivotal tool in their farming operation, seamlessly adapted to these changes. In 2022, the planter underwent an overhaul, incorporating a pneumatic vacuum metering system, enhancing its performance and resilience in challenging conditions.
Embracing regenerative agriculture, Robert’s cooperative abstains from fertilizers, fungicides, and desiccants, relying solely on herbicides. Their commitment to sustainability has not compromised yield; corn harvests consistently average above nine tones, even in years with less rainfall. As they enter their fourth year of regenerative agriculture, Robert, and his cooperative stand as a testament to the possibilities of sustainable farming.

Robert remains steadfast in his belief in the Kinze planter. He expresses satisfaction with its efficiency and envisions a lasting partnership, confident that any future improvements by Kinze will only enhance an already excellent machine.
