A Kinze Exclusive: Hydraulic Weight Transfer

Planters today are much bigger – with more rows and higher seed and fertilizer capacity. For the most part, this is a good thing because it allows growers to plant more acres per day and reduce the amount of time it takes to fill the planter. The major drawback to bulk fill planters is how the majority of the planter’s weight is centered above the middle rows. This intensifies the impact of soil compaction, which often leads to stunted plant growth. “Soil compaction is a major issue and can directly impact crop yield,” said Kinze district sales manager Mike Gryp. “Many farmers are concerned about soil compaction and making an effort to reduce the negative impact.” To help farmers overcome...

Seed Meter Care and Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance of your Kinze seed meters is an important part of optimizing your planter’s performance and ultimately, yield potential. Both mechanical and vacuum seed meters should be removed from the planter and cleaned out when not in use. Remember that storing your meters in a clean, dry and rodent free environment helps reduce the potential for damage. Before each planting season, inspect the seed discs, singulator brush, crowder brush, wall brush, and air inlet screens. Identify common wear points and clean or replace parts as needed. Want to really make sure your meters are achieving optimum performance? Consider taking them in for seed meter testing. This service, available at many Kinze dealerships, is a great way to...

Check Out the Latest Happenings at Kinze!

From publishing children’s books to engineering multi-hybrid planters, production levels at Kinze are rivaling that of Santa’s workshop in the lead up to Christmas. The Kinze multi-hybrid planter was announced in early December, making it an easy way for farmer’s to optimize their yields. The planter uses the Kinze 4000 series electric drive to allow seed hybrids to be selected and automatically planted for different parts of the field. Kinze debuted its first children’s book that tells the story of Kinze Manufacturing, true stories that are beautifully illustrated (by an Iowa illustrator!) and created for younger audiences to begin to embrace the world of agriculture. Finally, Kinze opened a production facility in Lithuania. It’s Kinze’s first production facility outside of the United States, which better helps in...

From Iowa to Lithuania

This fall Kinze made an exciting leap by opening its first production facility abroad in Lithuania. The agricultural arena in Eastern Europe offers many promising opportunities for Kinze, both today and in the future, and we are thrilled by what’s in store. In order for us to realize the maximum potential of these opportunities, it was important that Kinze establish a local presence that allowed for rapid response to changing market demands and streamline the manufacturing and delivery process to reduce the lead times. This move was really a win-win because it enhanced our capabilities abroad – but also here at home. By freeing up valuable resources at our manufacturing headquarters in Williamsburg, Iowa, Kinze is better able to serve...

Big Blue and Polly Children’s Book: Telling Our Story to the Next Generation of Farmers

What makes a company special isn’t just the products and services it offers. It’s the stories and company history. Stories about the vibrant, talented people who enrich the culture and embody the brand name. Stories about how certain product offerings were first innovated and later improved. Kinze is fortunate in that regard, for ours is a history with an abundance of great stories. We want to share as many of those stories as we can. The Kinze Innovation Center was created with that purpose in mind. From the early stages of its development, one of our primary goals was developing fun ways for younger audiences to experience and enjoy the Kinze story. So naturally, a series of children’s books seemed...

Welcome to the Kinze “Sparks of Innovation” Blog

Stories inspire us. Stories of success drive us to achieve great things of our own. Stories of perseverance encourage us to keep going – even despite formidable obstacles. Even stories of failure can inspire us by reminding us that success is never a given and we must always stay focused, hungry and humble. Stories abound here at Kinze. Like the story of my father – president and founder Jon Kinzenbaw – who as an ambitious young man with little money in his pocket opened a small welding shop here in the heartland, relying on his creative talents, know-how and work ethic to build a successful company from the ground up.  Over the years so many talented and hard working people...
