Innovative Grain Carts – the Difference is Kinze

Kinze innovation in grain carts started 45 years ago when we introduced the first two-wheeled flotation grain cart that held 435 bushels of grain. Since then, several generations of carts have proudly worn the blue paint — each with new innovations and the consistent reliability that make them a Kinze grain cart.  The current lineup of carts (1100, 1300, and 1500) is no different. Packed with innovative features, ruggedly built, and simple to operate, these latest carts are the first choice of farmers who want to get their crop out the field fast. So what makes these carts so good at solving grain handling challenges? Let’s take a look. Ease of Use They are the industry’s first dual-auger, low profile grain carts with an external corner auger to provide unmatched line of sight and operator visibility. In addition, the standard pivoting vertical auger and adjustable spout provide plenty of adjustment to...

Introducing the 850-bushel Kinze 851 and 1,050-bushel Kinze 1051 single auger grain carts that are setting a different standard for grain handling performance. Simplicity. Reliability. Innovation. This is what you expect from the company that introduced the world’s first two-wheeled flotation grain cart nearly 50 years ago. “We’ve always had a reputation of building rugged grain carts for the field,” said Susie Kinzenbaw Veatch, President and Chief Marketing Officer at Kinze. “Now our customers have even more options without giving up the durability and performance they have grown to expect from Kinze.”     The new carts feature a front-folding corner auger design that easily extends and folds while right next to the grain truck. The adjustable spout has a 42 degree range of motion and helps control grain flow and precise placement. There are many keys to success in the farm equipment industry, but it really comes down to two things: good people and good products. Kinze is fortunate to have good people who design, build, market and distribute some of the best planters and grain carts in the industry. Kinze is proud to partner with some of the best agriculture equipment dealerships in the country. To show our appreciation, each year Kinze honors and awards dealers who have demonstrated excellence and customer focus while also gaining market share in their respective sales territory. The awards recognize the tremendous efforts at the dealerships – from sales personnel to office administrators. Maintain Your Kinze Grain Cart to Keep Harvest Rolling Strong!

It's hard to believe that shortly we will be headed back out to the fields with an army of combines, tractors, grain carts and trucks to get the crop out. Typically the combine gets the majority of attention when preparing for harvest, but performing some pre-season preventive maintenance on your grain cart will help to ensure a smoother harvest. Make sure its ready to roll by following these maintenance tips. INSPECT AUGERS FOR NOTICEABLE WEAR This is key because over time augers will become smaller in diameter and diminish their overall performance. Inspect for wear especially where grain transitions from the horizontal to vertical auger, or from the lower to upper portion of the vertical auger. These grain transition zones are high-wear areas and when worn, cause slow unloading and extra strain on other driveline components. CHECK THE PTO / DRIVE BELTS Make sure they are properly adjusted and that the...

Jon’s Antique Tractor Collection

This blog is an abridgment of an article originally written by Kinze employee, Claire Voss for the Kinze employee newsletter. Getting Started Jon’s Antique Tractor Collection is a must see for tractor collectors, enthusiasts and farmers. People have traveled from 18 different states, as far as New York and Texas. Some have traveled from Ontario, Canada and one traveled from Grantham, UK this summer. There is currently a two year waiting list to tour the Classic Antique Tractor Collection. It is a “bucket list” activity for most of these folks.  Jon became interested in tractors at a very young age. His dad had one Farmall tractor and his uncles had a few more; one B Farmall, three H Farmalls, and three M Farmalls (two were the latest 1954 MTA Farmalls and one was the Farmall 560).  Jon purchased his first two tractors in 1979 at an auction; a B Farmall...

Indiana Farmer Believes in the “Blue Crew”

Since buying his first Kinze planter in the early 1990's, Dan Brettnacher readily adopts new technology and depends upon Kinze to deliver it. The Indiana farmer bought his 4900 when it was released in 2014 and has planted over 12,000 acres in three seasons. He is an avid fan of the 4900 and candidly says, "There is no doubt in my mind that my next planter will be a 4900 planter (and) as long as I am planting corn or soybeans, this is the planter that I want behind me!"  Dan is also a fan of getting planting done as quick as possible. "With the 4900 planter, I planted right at 4,200 acres in nine days; one of the days I ran over 600 acres. In beans, there was a time frame this year, 2016, I was planting and was running at seven to seven-and-a-half miles an hour, it started to...

Pack Up the Truck, It’s Time to Vacation!

Ahhh, the open road. For the next week or two, the job is left behind and you and the family are free to explore destinations unknown! But wait, sometimes the distance between "here" and "there" is more than anyone inside your sheetmetal time machine can handle. The kids, and yourself, need somewhere along that long ribbon of concrete to get out and run off some energy. Also, you secretly want to feed your compulsive need to see and touch things that are made out of steel and smell faintly of diesel fuel. So do yourself and the family a favor, take a break and stop at the Kinze Innovation Center where there is plenty of steel and a great story to go along with it. Plan Your Trip Visit the Kinze Innovation Center webpage for information to plan your visit. For stories about the many things you'll see while at the Innovation...

Time to Put Away the Planter!

Whew! It was a busy spring waiting on the weather and then planting within a narrow time frame. That last night of planting got late and you rolled onto the yard about 11:00 pm, but it was finished and it felt good to have all the seed in the ground. Now you can relax . . . RELAX?! . . . no way, not with spraying to do and side-dressing to get done. There’s really never a dull moment around the farm in the spring. Now it’s summer and things are starting to slow down — at least just a little. You walk into the machine shed and there sits the planter still needing to be put away for the season. You think to yourself, “It looks good, I think I’ll just let it set until next year.” Not a good idea… For your planter to run at peak performance, efficiency...

John Deere V. Kinze Part Five: Perseverance Pays Off

Forty years ago, Kinze Manufacturing was just a small farm equipment startup near Williamsburg, Iowa. After developing several innovative products, the company was starting to attract the attention of farmers looking for ways to improve their farming efficiency. However, Kinze was also drawing the attention of the industry-giant, John Deere. The following is the final installment of a five-part series describing Jon Kinzenbaw’s early battles with John Deere - both in the field and in the courtroom. What started out as suit over row unit availability, eventually ended in a ruling that forever changed Kinzenbaw’s young company - and the ag equipment industry as a whole! This excerpt is from the book "Fifty Years of Disruptive Innovation" and is told in Jon’s own words. If you missed part one, part two, part three or part four, you'll want to go back and read the whole blog series. PERSEVERANCE PAYS OFF The next day was April 1, 1983. April...
